Microsoft 365: Know which licenses you really use
Purchased and assigned licenses, reconciled with your contracts.
How it works
- Register an app
You create an app registration with a single read permission in your tenant.
- Assign products
Complass lists your licence products with readable names. An administrator assigns each product to a contract.
- Fetch regularly
Complass fetches the figures daily, or every six hours or weekly if you prefer.
- See differences
The contract shows purchased and used licences side by side. If no new figures arrive for seven days, Complass marks them as outdated.
Which data is exchanged

Setup
- Your own app registration in your tenant with a client secret.
- Application permission LicenseAssignment.Read.All or Organization.Read.All with admin consent, nothing else.
- The secret needs an expiry date of at most 24 months. Complass reminds you 30 and 7 days before.
- Administrators with the right for API, webhooks and integrations and the right to import assets can set it up.
Security and data protection
- The secret is stored encrypted in Complass; the access token exists only in memory for one run.
- No personal data: Complass only sees figures per product.
- If a product is missing twice in a row, Complass marks it as removed. A run without products never overwrites your data.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same connection as for the evidence from Microsoft Entra ID?
No. The licence reconciliation has its own app registration with only one read permission. Security settings are checked by the Microsoft Entra ID connection.
How often can I fetch the figures by hand?
"Fetch now" works at most every 15 minutes.
Does Complass see who has which licence?
No. Complass only reads the number of purchased and assigned licences per product.
